6th Annual Waterfront Wednesday Concert Series lineup

Every year, the WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert series is a great success, with enthusiastic crowds mingling, dancing and enjoying the river.  Last year’s attendance grew to an average of 3,000+ per concert with the August event exceeding 7,000 people.  The Waterfront Development Corporation and Public Radio Partnership anticipate another very successful season. Entering into the 6th year, the festival will once again feature national recording artists and local talent entertaining fans on the last Wednesday of each month from April through September.  This summertime tradition features a family-friendly atmosphere, free admission, a cash bar and upscale festival fare.

The April 25th 91.9 WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert is sponsored by Clapp Auto Group, T-Mobile, Red Hook Ale and Friends of the Waterfront, and will feature Los Straitjackets with Big Sandy, Tony Furtado and another artist to be announced.

Taking a cue from the lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) masks that they have worn since their 1994 inception, Los Straitjackets apply their brand of  instrumental surf guitar twang to their first Spanish language album, Rock en Espanol, Vol. 1. This release finds Los Straitjackets sharing the spotlight with several guest vocalists, including Big Sandy.  The band hits the road with Big Sandy on lead vocals this spring. One of their first stops is here in Louisville for the WFPK Waterfront Wednesday.

Tony Furtado's albums are always well received, but when this virtuoso multi-instrumentalist takes the stage with his band, it takes his music to a higher level.  Expect a truly fantastic live concert experience!

WDC and PRP produce the WFPK Waterfront Wednesday concert series, which has grown to be a favorite of downtown professionals and families alike.  The dates for 2007 are April 25, May 30, June 27, July 25, August 29 and September 26 from 5pm - ?.

The Harbor Lawn is located between the boat docks at the Great Lawn and the Children’s Play Area.  Parking is available along River Road, in the Green Lot, the Orange Lot, and surrounding pay lots.
