On Thursday, April 26, all 20 horses presented to the ground jury were accepted to compete in the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup. This inspection is to ensure the horses are sound and in condition to compete.

A separate panel of judges awarded Ariat prizes for the best-dressed man and best-dressed woman at the first horse inspection.

Mandy McCutcheon of Aubrey, Texas, won the women’s category.

Casey Hinton, of Whitesboro, Texas, won the men’s category.

Friday night features the only three-star reining event in the United States for 2012 with singer Lyle Lovett competing, and Saturday night features the exciting World Freestyle Championship with celebrity guest freestyle riders participating. Those will be Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event winners David and Karen O’Connor, 2008 Olympic silver medalist Gina Miles, and famed former jockey Chris McCarron. It's east meets west in the freestyle competition as top English riders try their hand at western reining!

Tickets can still be purchased online or by phone and will be held at the Will Call window for pick-up at the event. Don’t miss out on these two exciting reining competitions. Go to the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup website for more competition information or to order tickets.
