Auditions for independent film 'Mild and Lovely' to take place tomorrow [Movies]

The local film scene continues to thrive, proving what I always tell my out-of-town friends: that Louisville is a city which is very good at fostering its creative types. Anyone with a creative vision and a drive to make it happen can find an audience.

Of course, filmmaking is a more collaborative art than most, which is great news for all those who always grew up wanting to be in the movies. Small-budget film auditions can be found on a regular basis, and the next is to be held tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.

The film is Mild and Lovely, written and directed by Josephine Decker, who describes the premise thus: “A western neither mild nor lovely, the film follows a hired hand who is slowly seduced by the daughter of the man who hired him.”

The leads have been cast (Joe Swanberg and Robert Longstreet), but the following parts are still needed:

CAREN (36-70) - Wild, drunk all the time, and very good at pissing people off.
RITA (35-70) - Caren's wife. Used to dealing with him being an animal, she is rather rough around the edges herself.
Lily (2-5) - A sweet young girl. Daughter of Caren and Rita, she likes to play with cars and is really good at making noises.
COOPER (6-12) - The son of Rita and Caren. Gets a sense that things aren't all quite right on the farm. Older inside than outside.
ROBIN (25-70) - Any type.
RICHARD (30-70) - Robin's husband. Gruff but kind underneath it all.
NEWBORN – Seeking a child ages 6 months – 2 years to play the baby of Robin and Richard.
JACK (2) - loves to experiment, play, say "Daddy" and smile a lot.
YOUNG SARAH (7) - blonde and open and easy to smile. But she knows danger when she sees it and can offer a delightful emotional range in her performance.

Auditions take place from 4:00-7:00 at Douglass Boulevard Christian Church, located at 2005 Douglass Blvd. For more information or to set up an audition, e-mail mildandlovely@gmail.com or lxklein@gmail.com.
