Be immersed with the dinosaurs, 4-D style

Those hilarious Ice Age movies have been a huge hit in our household from the outset. That crazy character Scrat and his nutty adventures with that acorn hooked my oldest child and we’ve watched everyone in the series. Dawn of the Dinosaurs, though, is her all-time favorite. Beginning in early March, she and thousands of other Louisville Zoo goers will have an opportunity to see Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in the new multi-sensory 4-D Theater.

“Seeing” is an understatement. The 4-D Theater at the Louisville Zoo is an experience all in itself. It is a multi-sensory, action-packed, ride.

The film, which is 14 minutes long, follows sub-zero heroes Manny, Ellie, and Diego on their mysterious underground adventure while they trail Sid the Sloth, who is attempting to raise some abandoned eggs he discovers. Sid decides he wants to raise the eggs on his own, and once the eggs hatch the action really picks up in the lost world of the dinosaurs. Theater goers will be able to “feel” the quivers, trembles, or whatever else you might expect when you’re surrounded by dinosaurs! They will view eye-popping thrills, really putting to use all of the senses. Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, you and your family will not want to miss this thriller.

The 4-D film is presented by Ford Motor Company and was developed by SimEx-Iwerks. The 4-D Theater will be open daily from 10:30am until 30 minutes prior to the Zoo closing. Tickets for the 4-D Theater are only available for purchase at the Zoo and are $5 per person, $4 for Zoo members, and $3 for a combined same day second experience. Admission to the Zoo is separate.
