This is the Best Mustache in Louisville

On Thursday November 7, The Filson Historical Society hosted Beards, Bouffants, and Bourbon at their beautiful old Louisville location, the Ferguson Mansion. The festivities featured catering by Farm to Fork and storytelling by employees of the Filson Historal Society, including a follicle-tingling tale about Peg Chenoweth, who survived scalping.

There was ample wine and beer, and the bourbon cider punch was exquisite. A barbershop quartet performed classics like "Sittin' on Top of the World" and other local musicians and singers graced the gathering with their art. Women drifted through the beautiful halls of the Filson wearing vintage cocktail dresses, their hair in elaborate curls and styles. Men stood, glasses in hand, twirling mustaches and stroking sideburns.

Perhaps most exciting were the hair contests, judged by the Derby City Whisker Club. The Derby City Whisker Club, whose mission, according to their facebook page, is " To promote beardliness and brotherhood amongst men and the whiskerfication of the masculine image into the popular conscious." Mustaches and  beards were judged on size, shape color and density. The winners were:

Best Mustache: Aaron Belcher

Best Long Beard: Adam Moseley

Photos were taken by Tim Furnish, photo booth style.

Other winners were:

Best Short Beard: Dave Roesfs

Best Vintage Hairstyle: Joy Roesfs

It was a hair-raising good time. Check out the photos  below, or visit Tim Furnish's album here.
