According to a press release I got: “ Morton’s $19.78 prime sirloin burger isn't just any hamburger – it’s what led to Morton’s creation 30 years ago. When Morton's co-founders Klaus Fritsch and Arnie Morton first worked together at the Playboy Club, Fritsch made his signature hamburger and sent it out for Arnie Morton to taste. Morton proclaimed it the best hamburger he'd ever tasted. From that day, they started the business partnership that has become Morton's The Steakhouse. Now in its 30th year, Morton’s has 80 world-wide restaurants.”
In honor of the steakhouse chain’s 30th anniversary they’re bringing that burger back, offering it at a special price and donating a little over 25% of the purchase price to the Make-A-Wish foundation. On Sundays from July through September, Morton's will be offering up the “Morton’s $19.78 Prime Sirloin Burger.” $5 of each nearly $20 hamburger and french fries entrée will be donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation. That donation is part of Morton’s “30 Wishes for 30 Years” campaign which to date has raised more than $99,250 for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
I was recently a guest at Morton’s to try the “$19.78 Prime Sirloin Burger.” When I say this burger is a beast I mean that in the best possible way. It’s 13 ounces of prime sirloin topped with your choice of cheese and cooked to perfection. It’s sometimes hard to get a burger cooked perfectly medium rare but Morton’s was more than up to the task. This burger is so big though forget about eating it with your hands, a knife and fork is really the only way to go. Seriously, don’t even try it.
