The University of Louisville football team conducted its first workout in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday morning in preparation for the Jan. 2 game against 12th-ranked Virginia Tech in the 2006 Toyota Gator Bowl.
The Cardinals, who arrived in town on Dec. 27, practiced for more than two hours at the University of North Florida. The Cardinals conducted a 22-period workout that included three periods of special teams.
"I was pleased with energy that the players practiced with this morning," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "The focus was good and the players worked hard. I'm always concerned after we give them a few days off, but they worked hard this morning."
The players, coaches and families toured the Adventure's Landing on Wednesday afternoon, playing games, riding rides, playing mini-golf and hitting in the batting cages.
The Cardinals will workout again on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
