Carmichael’s bookstore has started a new Community Book Club of their very own. The club meets monthly, is completely free to attend, and welcomes all who are interested. Meetings will take place at 7 PM on the last Tuesday of each month at the 2720 Frankfort Avenue Carmichael’s location.
With one successful meeting behind them, the Community Book Club is hoping to see lots of new faces at their second gathering. There will be snacks, and they promise, “No guilt if you only attend once!”
For the last two years, Carmichael’s has hosted the Cure for the Common Book Club, an annual event on how to run a more awesome book club. As an authority on ways to liven up, spice up, and keep things hot, Carmichael’s should know just how to do a book club right.
Their first meeting was held on October 29th. That evening they had an exciting literary discussion about The Round House by Louise Erdrich, a bestselling, Pulitzer Prize finalist author.
The second Community Book Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 7 PM, and at this meeting, the topic of conversation will be the book This is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett. You can RSVP on the event’s Facebook page.
In just five days, on the Friday of November 15th at 7 PM, Ann Patchett herself will be live at the Clifton Center to discuss her book. This event requires a $5.00 ticket, but is free to attend if you buy a copy of This is the Story of a Happy Marriage. If you wait until the event to purchase the book, your $5.00 ticket fee will be deducted from the price of the book. You can head over to the event on the Carmichael’s website for more information about purchasing a ticket or book.
If you’re interested in attending this month’s Community Book Club meeting, you can take advantage of the free ticket to attend the author’s event for a great opportunity to hear a bestselling author, read her newest work, and then gather a couple weeks later to talk it all over with the interesting folks of Carmichael’s Community Book Club.
