From closet to consignment [Fashion]

The last few weeks of summer are upon us, and fall is knocking at the door. With the change of seasons means a change of wardrobe, and most fashionistas aren't complaining about that. As you're going through your closet, you're certain to find some items that don't quite make the cut this season. A little extra room for all those in season styles you'll be racking up is always nice.

Ever thought about consigning? What's not to love about it? Give your gear a chance at a second life and make a quick buck at the same time. Louisville is buzzing with some great consignment shops, and Twice as Nice Consignment Shop has a place on this list.

Located at 4314 Taylor Boulevard in an area where you wouldn't typically expect to do a lot of shopping, Twice as Nice is a diamond in the rough. The owner requests that any items brought in be:

1. Nice, neat and clean
2. No less than three years old
3. On hangers

It's pretty simple. Consigners get 40 percent of whatever the item sells for, and accounts are settled after the 10th of the month following the month the clothes sold in, if that makes sense. For example, if your items sell on September 4, you'll get your payout after October 10.

Twice as Nice is one of many great shops in Louisville. Scope out the location before you go drop off your clothes. All consignment shops have their own style, and to give your duds the best chance for success, you need to make sure they fit within the aesthetic of the shop.

If you're clamoring to dig in your closet and make a profit for things that no longer work for you, get started now.
