Derby 139 Profile: Overanalyze

Print

Family and Connections: Sire - Dixie Union; Dam - Unacloud; trained by Todd Pletcher; rider Rafael Bejarano; owner Repole Stable (Mike Repole)

Pros: This horse has raced five times, all of them stakes races. HeAfter finishing fifth to Vyjack in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes, Overanalyze returned to win the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby by 4 1/2 lengths over Frac Daddy. He turned in a bullet work at Churchill Downs last week, going four furlongs in :47. That was the fastest of 70 going the distance that day.

Cons: There's not a lot not to like with him.

Fun Fact: Union Rags, sire of Overanalyze, also gave us Union Rags, who finished seventh in last year's running of the Kentucky Derby before winning the Belmont.

Analysis: Overanalyze brings Mike Repole (Uncle Mo in 2011) back to the Kentucky Derby. He could be the most overlooked from the Pletcher barn. The colt seems to be coming back to his two-year-old form and may be ready to throw a big number in his next start.
