Tomorrow May 3rd, the Derby festivities continue placing celebrity versus celebrity in an all out grudge match, which will finally determine the reigning champion of Louisville billiards. Held at the Ice House, one of the newer event spaces downtown, a full group of local and national celebrities face off in a charity event, with 100% of the proceeds going to Big Brother Big Sisters of Kentucky and the Amobi Okoye’s “Kick of 4 Kids”, the NFL players foundation that raises youth esteem, inspiration, and academic success through motivational activities.
Jeanette Lee, one of the top women billiard players in the world and known popularly as the Black Widow, will host the event along with Chicago Bears & Former UofL Football Star Michael Bush, Former UK Basketball Player & 2012 National Champion Darius Miller and Tampa Bay Buccaneers & Former UofL Football Star Amobi Okoye.
Think that you could take up your cue and defeat all competition? Well, the tournament has twenty available spots in the pool tournament open to the public. $250 will get you in the game with a celebrity partner and a chance to show Derby week how this city stuffs its pockets (I hope I just made up that awesome billiards line.). If you just want to donate to charity and have some fun entering the game, the entry fee also comes with drinks.
This celebration sounds like a unique good time, and it will certainly draw a mixed and engaged group of people to support some important charities. The Ice House is located at 217 East Main St. The event begins at 7:30 and runs through11pm. General admission tickets will run $50 and can be purchased here: http://derbypooltournament.eventbrite.com/
