Fathom Events presents Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival

I was all about some classic rock when I was in high school. It's all I listened to. I thought the '70s and '80s were, hands down, the best decades for music in all of history. Styx was my first concert. They were my favorite band at the time, and this made for a very excited fourteen-year-old. There is a classic rock station I used to listen to religiously. During one of the between-song transitions, they declared this station to be the “Home of Great Guitarists,” accompanied by wailing solos by Clapton, Hendrix, Townsend, the usual suspects. When this intermission ended, they played “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. I was highly amused.

This story really serves no purpose other than to make for a competent tie-in to today's topic: the broadcast of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013, presented by Fathom Events. The festival, which was held in 2004, 2007, and 2010, benefits the Crossroads Centre, a drug treatment center founded by Clapton.

The 2013 edition features a two-night show recorded at Madison Square Garden, featuring performances from the Allman Brothers, Blake Mills, Booker T., Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clark Jr., Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Keith Urban, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Sonny Landreth, Vince Gill, Warren Haynes, and, of course, Clapton himself, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage.

The broadcast of the Crossroads Guitar Festival is tonight, Tuesday, at 7:30. You can see it at Cinemark Tinseltown, located at 4400 Towne Center Drive, or New Albany Stadium 16, located at 300 Professional Ct. Complete details, as well as online ticket sales, can be found at the Fathom Events website.
