Handicapping analysis of Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (Race 8) [Breeders’ Cup]

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies is a 1 1/16 mile race for two-year-old fillies over the dirt. The purse is $2,000,000. This is race 8 on the program for Friday’s Card. Post time is 6:10 p.m.

There are several undefeated fillies in this race which makes it interesting. My Miss Aurelia is the 5-2 morning line favorite. She’s undefeated in three starts, including the Grade 1 Frizette and Grade 2 Adirondack. Steve Asmussen trains this homebred for Stonestreet Stables. Asmussen definitely knows how to prepare two-year-olds and have them ready to shine on race day.

Wemissfrankie is also undefeated in three starts, including two Grade 1s. Her last race was the Grade 1 Oak Leaf at 1 1/16 mile and change. She will likely be bet down from her 4-1 morning line.

I think I like Grace Hall the best here. She is yet another that is undefeated in three starts. She won the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga. I’ve heard a lot of people talking very highly about her. She’s trained by Tony Dutrow and will have jockey Ramon Dominguez aboard.

My longshot pick here is Putthebabiesdown with a morning line of 30-1. She was third in the Alcibiades behind Stephanie’s Kitten who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf earlier today. Kenny McPeek trains her and has said that she’s doing very well lately. The fact that this is Putthebabiesdown’s first start on dirt is a risk, but since she’s by Closing Argument, it shouldn’t matter. Closing Argument finished second to Giacomo on the Churchill dirt in the 2005 running of the Kentucky Derby.
