It's sad when I have to report this. I remember sitting in my uncle's living room watching the "Naked Gun" on one of the movie channels. I even went and saw "Spy Hard" and "Wrongfully Accused" at the (now demolished) Showcase Cinemas...

Leslie Nielsen (Feb, 11, 1926 – November 28, 2010) was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and studied in the radio arts before going to New York. He had bit parts in several TV series such as “Alfred Hitchcock Theater” and “Stage 13.” His leading man status debuted in 1956's sci-fi staple, “Forbidden Planet” as Command J.J. Adams. Continuing on he switched between television and film doing mostly serious roles in such fare as “Playhouse 90,” “Untouchables,” “Route 66,” “The Fugitive,” “Peyton Place,” and “Gunsmoke.” A role as Dr. Rumack in the film “Airplane!” gave him the new status of comedic actor which was followed by being in such films as “The Naked Gun” series, and “Repossessed.” Nielsen was 84 years of age at the time of his death.
