The Homecoming on Main is a Return to the Nest [Sports]

Saturday morning at 11, University of Louisville football and basketball fans will gather at the KFC Yum! Center for the free Homecoming on Main block party with the University of Louisville Alumni Association. The theme is “Return to the Nest.” As with last year’s festivities, this event will kick off the UofL homecoming activities.

Last year, this gathering was the most popular alumni experience of the year and this year they’re building on what happened last year. For football fans, the plaza Jumbotron will show the Louisville vs. Pittsburgh game live from Heinz Field starting at 11am.

At 2:30, the Cardinal Marching Band, the spirit squads, the Cardinal Bird and athletic team representatives will conduct a pep rally and at 4, the Cardinal basketball faithful get a chance to see the talented men’s basketball team in a red-white scrimmage inside the arena. Tickets for the game are $10 for side and corner seats and reduced to $5 for the end zone. Get those through the UofL Ticket Office, call 502-852-5863 or go through Ticketmaster.

Filling in the in-between times will be music, games, a climbing wall, face painting, inflatables and more. Many of the downtown eateries will offer specials during the party as well.

This kickoff to homecoming eventually leads to the Louisville football homecoming on Saturday, October 20th against the University of South Florida.
