A horse obsession beyond the Derby will be seen at Bunbury Theatre in Equus, which opens on Friday.
Equus performances will take place on July 28, 29, 30, Aug. 3, 4, 5, and 6 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinee shows will go on July 31 and Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. each day. All shows will happen at Bunbury Theatre, located on the third floor of the Henry Clay building at 604 South Third Street.
Tickets for each show are $21 for adults, $18 for students, and $18 for senior citizens 65 and over. Tickets can only purchased by phone at 502-583-8222 with Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. Keep in mind the show contains mature themes , violence, nudity, and sexual content.
In Equus, Alan Strang has developed an obsession of dangerous proportions with horses and has also become violent. Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist, attempts to figure out the cause of Strang's condition but also finds himself falling more into Alan's life, questioning his own sanity in the process.
Bunbury Theatre is presenting Equus alongside Actors Choice. Bunbury will also begin their 2011-2012 season with Blithe Spirit in October.
