This Louisville native and graduate of Pleasure Ridge High School is not a newcomer to performing as her resume’ includes leading roles in Fame, Little Shop of Horrors and School House Rock. She also holds many state and national titles in pageantry, most recently winning the National American Miss Teen in 2008. She’s performed locally at various bars and clubs, and considers headlining during the KDF’s Chow Wagon the last two years as a highlight of her young career.

A country music artist, 21 year-old Henken will be showcasing her vocal artistry at the Fleur De Lis stage at HullabaLOU on Sunday at 1:30 as she opens for Dwight Yoakam and Loretta Lynn. Being a part of such a decorated country line-up can only help this senior at University of Louisville’s dream of being named County Music’s Entertainer of the Year.

Selected by a panel of celebrity judges, Henken was chosen out of hundreds of applicants in the nationwide talent search contest, “Hey Bands” according to Churchill Downs Entertainment. While it was not a requirement or something anyone necessarily expected, having a hometown girl on the ticket is exciting for everyone involved.

Henken is currently working on her first original album in Nashville, Tennessee. Her first single release, “DerbyTown”, is a tribute to the city of Louisville and is available for download on Itunes, Rhapsody and Napster. If you can’t make it out to see her in Louisville’s premier musical festival this weekend, be sure to check out online!
