It is Derby week and Thoroughbreds reign but don’t forget about the adoptable do

This is Kentucky Derby week and the thoroughbred horses are in the spotlight but we don’t want you to forget about all the adoptable dogs at Louisville Metro Animal Services looking for homes. Too many healthy adoptable dogs are being put down purely because the shelter is so over crowded. Here are this week’s featured doggies.

Abe is a 3 year old blue Pit Bull that loves people and other dogs. He is at high risk for euthanasia because LMAS is overcrowded and healthy dogs that have been waiting too long at the shelter will be euthanized to make room. He is qualified for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. If you are willing to foster or adopt this guy and save him from the same sad fate please have his Pet ID # A472879 handy when contacting LMAS about him.

Jitterbug is a 1.5 year old female Beagle. She is a little sweetheart awaiting someone to get her out of the shelter and give her the love she so needs. Jitterbug is spayed and up to date on her shots. If you are interested in Jitterbug then please have her Pet ID # A489476 handy when contacting LMAS.

Lady is a beautifully marked young Pit Bull mix. Dogs of pit bull breeding are at high risk of euthanasia due to so many being at the shelter right now. She is eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. If you can help get Lady out either by fostering or adopting please have her Pet ID # A488895 handy when contacting LMAS.

Bert is a cute little 3 year old Dandie Denmont Terrier mix. Bert is a little shy but once he warms up to you he will be your little lap dog. He prefers to be the only dog in your household as he wants all of your attention. If you think you can give this little guy a great new home please have his Pet ID # A489623 handy when contacting LMAS about him.

Cuz is a neutered large male Pit Bull who is already to go home. Because he is of pit bull breeding he will be at high risk of euthanasia because there are so many at the shelter right now and LMAS is very overcrowded and running out of room. Cuz is eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. This is a sad situation so if you think you can foster or adopt Cuz please have his Pet ID # A489238 ready when contacting LMAS about him.

Gwen is a 9 month old Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd mix. She would love to go to a home with a fenced back yard so she can play and play. She is a sweet girl who loves tummy rubs. She gets along with her kennel mate. This girl is spayed and current on all of her shots. If you are interested in adopting her please have her Pet ID # 489170 handy when contacting LMAS about her.
