LePetomane updates Shakes

Once you get past all the majesty and mastery of Shakepeare's style (which, lets face it, gets in the way of the story for most readers) it seems he always had a pretty good pulse of the day.  This story about people finding love despite financial troubles caused by political double-crossing maintains its relevance in 2009.  So these guys from the always-wacky Le Petomane have adopted it and will give it their unique treatment.

Six actors will play all twenty characters, using traditional masks and puppets, handmade here in their own workshop and they’ll write and perform original music for the production.

And sticking to their formula (which might make Shakespeare more bearable for some), you can imbibe adult beverages during the show.

As You Like It opens May 28 and plays Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through June 6.  All performances are at 7:30 pm at the legendary Rudyard Kipling (422 W. Oak St.)
