The proof is literally in the numbers as Shelby County Community Theatre explores Proof this weekend as part of the Upstairs at 801 series.

Proof performances will take place on Oct. 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. each night.  A matinee show, meanwhile, will go on Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m.  All performances are to happen at the Shelby County Community Theatre, located at 801 Main Street in Shelbyville, KY.

Tickets for each show are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for students.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 502-633-0242.  More information on the show can also be found at the Shelby County Community Theatre website.

In Proof, Catherine, an intelligent daughter of a brilliant mathmetician, has just laid her father to rest.  As she deals with her father Robert's passing, and her father's mental illness that took away his brilliance, another student, Hal, discovers new calculations among Robert's files.  However, they really belong to Catherine, who must now show proof to Hal of the truth.

Jack Wann directed Proof, which David Auburn created.  Proof earned a Tony Award for Best Play and a 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Proof is part of SCCT's Upstairs at 801 series.   The series presents shorter but still effective works in a more intimate setting.
