Village 8 Louisville Exclusives presents "My Afternoons With Margueritte" [Movies]

Knowledge is power. It is a trite cliché, but it is true. And on the other hand, ignorance is bliss. It is easy to spend one’s day engaged in idleness, and it can be quite pleasant. However, life is often more fulfilling with a healthy curiosity and a hunger for education.

Village 8 Louisville Exclusives presents a one-week run of the French film “My Afternoons with Margueritte” (original title, “La Tête en Friche”), directed by Jean Becker and based on the book of the same name by Marie-Sabine Roger. Acclaimed actor Gérard Depardieu stars as Germain Chazes, an underachieving middle-aged man living in a trailer on his mother’s lawn. One day at the park he meets the older Margueritte (Giséle Casadesus) who introduces him to masterpieces of French literature, and a whole new world opens up to him.

“My Afternoons With Margueritte” plays at Village 8 Theater until Thursday the 19th. Theater information and showtimes can be found at the theater’s website.
