This year’s Light Up the Village Friday, December 4, will benefit Metro United Way with a portion of all Westport Village retail sales that night to be donated to the non-profit entity. The annual Westport Village Holiday Open House event begins at 6 pm with activities planned throughout the evening. “We want to give back to the community and make it easy for our shoppers to contribute as well,” said Suzanne Tiano, Westport Village marketing director. “During Light Up the Village we will have special holiday collection areas set up for merchandise donations. The Salvation Army will collect toys at Gattiland, the Home of the Innocents will collect new or gently used coats, hats, scarves and gloves, and the Center of Women and Families will accept gift card donations. All the Village stores will offer shopping specials with great holiday gift ideas along with holiday treats and refreshments. Westport Village gift cards will be available for purchase. The annual event includes the holiday tradition of pictures with Santa and horse drawn sleigh rides. Live music performances will feature an outdoor Christmas concert by the Vendors, choirs and Christmas carolers from Dunn Elementary, Westport Baptist Church, and MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS.
