The First Annual Boys & Girls Club Science Week
The Kentucky Science Center is partnering with the Yum! Foundation for the first annual Boys and Girls Club “Finding Their Inner Science Superstar” Half-Day Science Week. During the week of July 21-25 from 9am-12pm, Kentucky Science Center workers and trained volunteers are bringing Science and their knowledge directly to the five Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, where they will facilitate science related workshops. The workshops will focus on a variety of topics including healthy lifestyles, nutrition and sports science. Students will engage in activities such as the Helmet Safety Workshop, the Smoker Lung Experiment and Frisbee Spin Art.

American Cancer Society: Celebrate The Sweet Life
To join the American Cancer Society to save lives and create a world with more birthdays. On Tuesday, July 22nd from 6:30pm to 9 pm at the Mellwood Arts Center, the American Cancer Society will host the annual "Celebrate the Sweet Life" dessert tasting event benefitting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. This delectable evening will include assorted desserts from community vendors including caterers, restaurants, bakeries and novelty shops. Dancing, music, a silent auction and much sought after “sweet boxes” containing mystery items and gift certificates will take place to guarantee a night truly celebrating the sweet life while raising funds to support the fight against breast cancer. Tickets for Celebrate the Sweet Life are available for $25 per person. All proceeds raised through Celebrate the Sweet Life benefit the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer taking place Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Waterfront Park in Downtown Louisville.

Spend the evening sipping summer wines at a Winston’s Wine Academy class on Thursday, July 24 at Winston’s Restaurant. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy an interactive lecture from 6:30-8 p.m. with Aaron Dawkins of Vanguard Wines, including five varietals and a tasting plate to complement the flavors of each, for $35 per person. Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden Playing at New Vintage
Nashville’s Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden will embark on a summer tour to promote their full-length album The Shape The Color The Feel. The tour kicks off on July 23rd, and and the group's second stop will be at the New Vintage in Louisville on the 24th. The story of their unique project was highlighted in the Hufﬁngton Post: “Another group of enormously talented Nashville artists are using Kickstarter to fund a photo and video series, live performances, art gallery exhibits, and dance."
