For last Saturday’s contest, where the Cats barely took down Tennessee, the officiating was the story of the day, although Kidd-Gilchrist’s double-double and Anthony Davis’ 18 points, as well as McBee’s McStache were honorable mentions in the media after the close win. Now that the Cats are back in Lexington, Coach Cal is looking forward to a new challenge, Arkansas.
The Kentucky/Arkansas meeting is a much anticipated game of the season, especially when Nolan Richardson was at the reigns. Kentucky leads the series 24-8. The Big Blue Nation is ready for the Cats to show up…at home.
In a pre-Arkansas press conference, Coach Cal talked about the game, “They will try to make us play too fast”. The Razorbacks, under Head Coach Mike Anderson, will run the floor and try to stop the Cats from settling into a defense, or an offense for that matter. Cal is concerned with rebounding in the meeting with Arkansas. When asked about rebounding, Coach Cal said, “We’ve done ok. There are a lot of areas we need to improve.”
The Wildcats cannot afford to play a slow or sloppy first half and will be trailing at the half if they allow Arkansas to dominate on the press. Arkansas will chase the Cats on the inbound; continue to press, switch, and stay a hard man-to-man defense. The Wildcats are able to run with Arkansas, but they have to be willing. Coach Cal is confident his guys can keep the pace with Jones, Davis, and Kidd-Gilchrist in the mix.
The game will be televised on ESPN at 9:00 pm (EST) and broadcast on the UK IMG Network. For Louisvillians, 103.5 FM will carry the game. Fear the Brow!
