Featuring DJs ETI and Kim Sorise! New Roots is a non-profit organization that works to develop a just and thriving food system in the Metro Louisville area.
New Roots seeks to meet the needs of urban communities by improving access to fresh food for all urban residents and marketing opportunities in the city for local and regional farmers.
The New Roots program impacts the local food system through the development of: 1) The Fresh Stop Project, the only community-driven fresh local food distribution program in Louisville 2) Nutrition education and health research, and 3) Policy campaigns that improve the disparities currently present in our system.
Our DJs from Detroit, ETI and Kim Sorise, support New Roots and have a passion for giving back to the community. Kim Sorise is a Detroit native transplanted in Louisville. Sorise was awarded with the Best of Louisville Critic’s Choice award for Best Club DJ in 2007. Sorise currently is the team DJ for the city’s roller derby league and co-hosts the weekly Derby City Soul Club at Meat with WFPK’s Matt Anthony. Deeply rooted in the Detroit music scene, ETI embodies the varied styles of music the city is known to produce. He's been a DJ for 8 years, but is also a forefront member of Tour Detroit, a legendary summer party series. He co-hosts a weekly straight vinyl, crate digging night called Slow Jams, and played the Movement Festival in Detroit last year.
