“An Evening with Poe”October 26 and 27 and November 1, 2 and 3, 7:30 p.m.Buy tickets now

For more than a century, readers have been terrified, surprised, and delighted by one of America’s greatest storytellers, Edgar Allan Poe. Whether about grisly murder or ethereal and untouchable love, Poe delivers a new thrill to his audience with each tale.

Back by popular demand the Frazier History Museum’s Interpretations Department presents “An Evening with Poe” beginning Wednesday, October 26, bringing several of Poe’s best known works to the live stage for five performances of an original show. New in 2011, four new Poe tales and a live score created by Chicago artist, Charlie Universe for the Pit and the Pendulum using sounds captured during the performance. To read the stories is one thing; to experience them live, however, is entirely another.

Poe was undoubtedly affected by the music that surrounded him and guests will be treated to those pieces as well. Throughout the evening, Jack Ashworth & Friends will delight guests with musical ambiance from the mid 19th century to help produce an unforgettable evening of stories and music in an eerie setting.

Performances are offered Wednesday and Thursday, October 26 and 27 and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, November 1, 2 and 3. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar and museum gallery access.  The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
