The sixth annual festival of ten minute plays by Louisville playwrights and celebrating local theatre.

Finnigan Productions presents its sixth annual festival of new 10-minute plays by local playwrights, Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun, running April 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 & 13 at 7:30pm at The Bard’s Town Theatre, located at 1801 Bardstown Road. Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is the first production in Finnigan’s ninth season in Louisville.

Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is a celebration of local theatre artists in the disciplines of playwriting, acting and directing, with scripts from eleven local writers, directed by ten local directors and performed by fifteen local actors.

Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s plays include: To post or not to post in STATUS by Tad Chitwood. Virginity is something not taken or given easily, even after the age of forty in The Big V by Andy Epstein. Father and son try and connect and heal old wounds in Mitch Field’s Silverman. The factory which creates everyone’s dreams and aspirations comes to life in Dreaming on Empty, a surreal tale created by Ben Gierhart. Reality and our perceptions of it is turned on its head in Becky LeCron’s In the Driver’s Seat. Retail sales and satanic rituals converge and have a good time doing it in The Gift from the Gift Shop by Corey Music. Love goes all punk rock post-modern in Ben Unwin’s So Many Dicks. The oldest profession gets a modern twist in Dry Erase BJ’s by Brian Walker. Mother and daughter struggle through their new reality in Rachel White’s The Mother Machine. Santa Claus has been naughty this year in Todd Zeigler’s I Saw Mommy…and Santa Claus. In addition, Sherry Deatrick’s zany and outrageous characters from her Beak Wet trilogy make their return to the festival for between-the-plays-vignettes in the serial adventures The Life and Times of Brittany the Chicken.

Directing credits for Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun are being shared by several local directors, including winner of last year’s festival favorite award for best play as director, Becky LeCron. Joining her: Bottom’s Up Productions’ Corey Music, local stage manager for various companies and first time director Jillian Spencer, third time returning festival director (and Finnigan originating company member) Briana Clemerson, returning directors and regular Finnigan contributing artists Natalie Fields, Joe Hatfield and George R. Bailey, LEO theatre critic Jane Mattingly, University of Louisville theatre major Amos Dreisbach and Walden Theatre Artistic Associate Melinda Crecelius.

Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is being produced by Louisville native and artistic director of Finnigan Productions, Brian Walker and longtime collaborator Kelly Kapp. Walker’s previous writing/producing credits include Great American Sex Play, fb: a ghost story, The Friend Factory and dirty sexy derby play and is currently a member of Tennessee Repertory’s Ingram New Works Lab. Kapp is an originating member of Finnigan’s acting company and serves as drama director at Mercy Academy.

Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s cast includes local talents Abby Braune, Sean Childress, Briana Clemerson, Chet Gray, Kelly Kapp, Becky LeCron, Jane Mattingly, Michael Mayes, Michael Roberts, April Singer, Ben Unwin, Brian Walker, Eric Welch, Brian West and Rachel White.

Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun was written and conceived by adults for adults and due to adult language and sexual situations, it is not recommended for anyone under the age of eighteen.
