This event will feature two speakers. An 11-year-old boy named Mauro from Nicaragua will speak, along with two young men from Appalachia who plan to further their education after volunteers helped them with their home this past summer. Hand in Hand sends teams of volunteers to Nicaragua, Belize and Appalachia during immersion trips to assist residents in home repairs and other much-needed work.
“For Hand in Hand, this event is an important way for us to connect with those who wish to learn more about our programs,” says Marla Cautilli, Director of Hand in Hand. “It’s also important for us in terms of being able to plan our budget for the next year and beyond. We depend on the donations from this breakfast to fund our poverty alleviation efforts in the areas of education, medical care, and housing in Central America, Appalachia and right here in Louisville.”
Those who are interested in attending the Legacy Breakfast must reserve a seat by Friday, November 9. This popular event usually draws a crowd of about 400 people.
