An all-female production of Much Ado About Nothing kicks off Looking for Lilith's 2012-2013 season.
Switching the Shakespearean convention of one gender casting, LFL has cast only women in this perennial comedy favorite. Performances will be October 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13 at 7:30p.m. and October 13 at 2p.m. at The Alley Theater at The Pointe, 1205 Washington Street. For reservations, call 502-713-6178, email
firstname.lastname@example.org or go online to purchase your tickets: http://thealleytheater.org/index.php/much-ado-about-nothing.html
Adult tickets $18. Student and senior tickets $15. LFL introduces its “community night” – all tickets will be $10 for that performance only.
LFL sets this interpretation in the fast-changing world of post World War I: pilots returning home, women's suffrage in the air, and the spread of popular music and movies altering people's idea of how life and love are conducted. By casting Much Ado About Nothing as an all-female production, LFL will explore how the text’s gender references are brought into relief, continuing the company’s commitment to examine classic texts from a feminist point of view.
Kathi E.B. Ellis directs company members Shannon Woolley Allison, Dawn Schulz, Karole Spangler and Laura Ellis as well as returning actors Stephanie Adams, Lauren Argo and Natalie Fields. In addition, LFL is delighted to welcome the following performers, new to the company, Kate Holland, Janelle Hunnicutt, Paula McGuffey and Jenna Purdy. Collaborating designers include Lindsay Chamberlin, Laura Ellis, John Newman and Holly Stone. Lauren Camargo is stage managing.
