The Southeastern Indiana Recycling District (SEIRD) will host a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) class on Thurs., September 13, 2012 from 8am-5pm.
The Southeastern Indiana Recycling District (SEIRD) will host a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) class on Thurs., September 13, 2012 from 8am-5pm. The event will take place at the SEIRD Environmental Discovery Center located at the Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison.
Presented by American Industrial Services instructors, the class will cover a review of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazwoper rules, OSHA hazard communication rules, general safety, personal protection, an overview of Department of Transportation hazardous materials regulations, specific safety of household hazardous waste including spills and response.
The class will benefit those who work directly with identification, management, transfer (bulking), packaging, storage, and handling of household hazardous waste.
For those who have completed a 24 or 40-hour Hazwoper training, this will be a refresher class--an 8-hr refresher class certificate will be issued upon completion. The class is also an 8-hour awareness session for those who have not attended the 24-hour or 40-hour Hazwoper training. Awareness Class certificates will be issued for these attendees.
The cost of the class is $120 per person and includes lunch. The maximum class size is 20, with a registration deadline of Mon., September 10, 2012. Lodging is available in Madison.
