A five-run seventh inning and some solid pitching propelled the Louisville Bats to an 8-0 win over the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory, coupled with one by Columbus, helped Louisville maintain its 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West standings. Homer Bailey continued to show that he is ready to return to the parent Cincinnati Reds, giving up six hits while striking out nine over seven innings as Louisville beat Norfolk 6-0 Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. That helped Bailey extend his scoreless streak to 13 2/3 innings and tied the Bats for the International League lead in shutouts (12).

The Louisville Bats have released reliever Jon Adkins, who last month became the franchise leader in career save and was leading the team in that category this season.
